How are you spending your time and energy? Time, that elusive concept many call ‘the true currency of life.’ Everyday you are giving your life away to something or someone. Often, your energy goes to whatever is dominating your thoughts. As you go through your days, are you spending this precious currency with intentionality and purpose? Understanding the value of this concept is the first step toward becoming a wise barterer of your time. The goal is to receive the best return in your investment, always.
Your energy is your inner power. As you give it away, it is important to know what you are gaining. Although it may sound selfish, it simply comes down to value. If you value yourself, if you value your life, if you value your dreams and have a sense of purpose, then you will be selective with how you spend the time you have been given. Successful people understand this concept because they have mastered the art of time bartering. They simply choose to invest their energy on things that fuel their passions and that help them achieve their aspirations.
Frequently, a big portion of our time is spent trying to find some sort of balance between work, relationships, and personal care. These are all important aspects of our lives. Things get challenging as more is added to our plate. The more you want to accomplish, the less free time you will have left. Prioritizing is an effective strategy. Stop and ask yourself: Is what I am doing right now worth my time? Is this a good investment? What am I getting in return?
There are things and people that give us life, while there are others that only take from us. Is what/who you are giving your power to giving you life back, or is it shaping you into a version of yourself that falls short of who you want to be? If anything or anyone you are investing time in is compromising your dreams and your self-worth, if it is stealing your inner peace, maybe it is time to try something different. Make sure your current priorities match your values and your self worth.
